Katie’s Place Day Support is a St. Vincent’s Home Program, licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. Our mission is to meet the needs of individuals with unique learning challenges across the lifespan. Katie’s place provides opportunities to learn and develop social skills and daily living skills through gardening, cooking, cleaning, caring for chickens, community outings, and so much more! A hallmark of Katie’s Place is our community partner volunteer program, where we help for local non-profits with much needed tasks and in return, learn valuable job skills.
Katie's Place participants volunteer with other non-profits and area agencies who have volunteer work to be completed. The participants now volunteer at the YMCA cleaning and other tasks, as requested. In exchange, Katie's Place participants enjoy swimming, playing basketball, and other gym activities at the Y.
We focus on all life areas including laundry, cleaning, household maintenance, and money management. We also concentrate on personal activities of daily living, such as hygiene, grooming, health and wellness, as well as toileting. Katie's Place participants grocery shop, exchange money, sort items, and cook.
